Why Chinaya Banaras

1. No Traders in Between 1. No Traders in Between

1. No Traders in Between

Every Chinaya piece comes directly from our own manufacturing unit and Karigars Hub in Varanasi. No traders, no aggregators, no middlemen adding margin. You pay for the craft — not the supply chain.
2. Craft Vocabulary 2. Craft Vocabulary

2. Craft Vocabulary

Every listing names the exact weave technique — kadhwa, rangkat, meenakari, jamdani, tanchoi. A buyer who understands what they own, values it differently. We don't just sell you a saree. We want you to know it.
3. Women-Led 3. Women-Led

3. Women-Led

The Banarasi trade has historically been run by men. Chinaya Banaras was founded and led by Namrata Agrawal — a woman who wears these sarees. Built with a buyer's instinct, not a trader's margin. That difference shows.

For 48 years, we've worked with the same Banarasi weaving families — watching their children learn the loom. That continuity keeps the craft consistent in ways no new brand can replicate quickly.

From fabric to finished garment, everything happens under our roof. Our in-house tailors stitch to your exact measurements. On select designs, colour customisation is available — worked directly through our manufacturing unit.

FAQs

Yes. Chinaya Banaras offers in-house stitching to your measurements; contact +91 7705012088 to discuss. Popular modern options for this fabric include a straight-cut kurta with cigarette pants, a short kurta with a flared sharara, or a long A-line with palazzos. Note that this item may show as sold out online, so check availability with the team, and remember customised pieces are not exchangeable.
Yes. Royal blue reads rich and deep under evening lighting, and the gold zari butis and the dupatta's zari motifs add subtle sparkle. For a reception, stitch the kurta as a floor-length anarkali or a straight kurta with a flared sharara, and pair it with gold statement earrings. The shaded shibori dupatta adds softness that keeps the outfit from looking too formal.
Both suit sets share the same design: a Banarasi silk kurta with gold zari floral butis and a zari hem border, a shibori dyed organza silk dupatta with gold zari motifs and a scalloped border, and co-ordinated bottom fabric. Red is the traditional choice for Karwa Chauth and bridal family functions. Royal blue is better for Diwali parties, receptions, corporate festive events and anyone who wants a cooler, more contemporary tone.
This suit set is designed as a coordinated three-piece: the kurta fabric, dupatta and bottom already match in colour and design, and the zari hem border is placed for the kurta's length. Buying fabric by the metre gives more freedom but requires you to source a matching dupatta and bottom separately. The set is recommended for shoppers who want a finished, balanced look without extra styling effort.
Royal blue is one of the most versatile non-red festive colours. It flatters most Indian skin tones, looks rich with gold zari and photographs well both indoors and outdoors. This Banarasi silk suit set gives you that confident colour with zari butis and a shibori organza dupatta, making it suitable for weddings, Diwali, engagements and corporate festive events where you want to stand apart.
Yes. Royal blue with gold zari is one of the most striking Diwali colour pairings, standing out from the sea of reds and pinks. This unstitched Banarasi silk suit set has gold zari woven floral butis across the kurta and a zari hem border, paired with a shibori dyed shaded organza silk dupatta. It is recommended for Diwali pujas, card parties and family dinners where you want a festive yet distinctive look.
Yes. The gold zari butis and zari-motif dupatta already provide the festive detail, so a pair of gold jhumkas or chandbalis is enough. Add a slim bangle or a single kada and keep the neckline bare. This minimal approach works well for younger women, office Diwali parties and daytime functions where heavy jewellery would feel excessive.
Yes. Royal blue is a strong cool-weather colour, and Banarasi silk feels comfortable in mild winter temperatures. For colder evenings, stitch the kurta with full sleeves and add a lining, or layer a solid gold or cream shawl. The organza dupatta stays light enough to carry without adding bulk, making the set practical for December weddings and New Year family gatherings.
Shibori is a resist-dye technique where fabric is folded, bound or stitched before dyeing, creating soft, shaded patterns rather than hard-edged prints. On this suit set, the organza silk dupatta has shaded shibori dyeing overlaid with gold zari floral motifs and finished with a broad scalloped border. The effect is fluid and hand-finished, adding a contemporary texture next to the woven zari kurta.
The set includes a royal blue Banarasi silk kurta fabric with gold zari woven floral butis and a gold zari hem border, a shibori dyed shaded organza silk dupatta with gold zari floral motifs and a broad scalloped border, and co-ordinated plain bottom fabric with a woven border. All pieces are unstitched, so you can tailor the silhouette and fit to your preference.
It suits Diwali, weddings, receptions, engagements, festive office events, Eid gatherings and family pujas. The royal blue and gold zari combination feels celebratory without being bridal, making it appropriate for women across age groups. It is also an excellent choice for NRI shoppers who need a single festive outfit that can move from a temple visit to a wedding reception abroad.
