This Green Banarasi Silk unstitched suit set offers a regal appeal for festive and celebratory occasions. The kurta features gold zari woven floral buti spread all over, framed by a gold zari woven border. It is paired with a shibori dyed shaded organza silk dupatta with zari woven buti and reverse scalloped zari border, and comes with a co-ordinated plain bottom.

Ask your tailor for a modest neckline and a comfortable kurta length, and the same outfit carries from a morning puja into a family lunch afterwards.
Dry clean only, both to preserve the lustre of the Banarasi silk and to protect the zari from damage. Never wring or machine wash any of the three pieces. Store them folded in breathable muslin cloth away from direct sunlight, which prevents the green from fading and stops zari from tarnishing, and refold occasionally so creases do not set into the woven border.
This dupatta is doing considerably more work than most. Alongside the shibori shading it carries its own zari woven buti and a reverse scalloped zari border, so it functions as a designed piece rather than a coordinating length of cloth. The practical effect is that the outfit needs no additional embellishment, and the dupatta remains wearable on its own over plain kurtas afterwards.

A scalloped border runs in a series of curved arcs rather than a straight line, and a reverse scallop inverts that curve so it reads as an arched edge along the dupatta. It takes more setting up on the loom than a straight border and gives the finished edge a softer, more considered outline, which suits a sheer organza where a hard straight line would look abrupt.
